Pictured is the historic bell Miguel Hidalgo used for his "Grito de Dolores," a call for independence from Spanish rule that he issued in the town of Dolores (now Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato) on the early morning of September 16, 1810. His speech that day sparked the Mexican War of Independence. Hidalgo was later captured and executed, but his actions inspired an 11-year war that resulted in Mexico's independence.
