A 1935 stamp Celebrating the 300th anniversary of Connecticut's settlement by English colonists in 1635. Featured is the Charter Oak, a legendary white oak in Hartford, Connecticut, famous for hiding the colony's royal charter in 1687 to prevent its confiscation by English authorities, becoming a powerful symbol of American freedom and Connecticut's status as the "Constitution State". Though the original tree was felled by a storm in 1856, its legacy lives on as Connecticut's official state tree, with descendants planted throughout the state and numerous objects carved from its wood, such as the Charter Oak Chair in the State Senate chambers.

Note: stated dimensions include the frame and mats.
